As part of Transfer Awareness Month during the month of October, Skyline College will be hosting Transfer Day on Monday, October 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Over forty different colleges and university representatives from CSUs, UCs, and Private schools will be present to meet and greet with our transfer savvy Skyline College Students. Please see our Transfer Awareness Flier for key information about various transfer-focused events and workshops. Please be sure to bring your class and/or stop by Transfer Day, which will be held in the main Dining Hall in buidling 6. This is an annual event and it’s vital that we make sure we are giving our students the opportunity to explore these colleges and what they have to offer. Proof of attendance forms will be available for students in case instructors want to give their students extra credit for attending.

Also part of Transfer Day events and the Transfer Initiative’s goal to increase our Transfer Culture on campus, we are encouraging faculty and staff to wear alma mater gear to bring more awareness to Transfer. We want our students to know that our faculty and staff can serve as ambassadors from their previous educational institutions and that they are very excited to share their experiences with Skyline College students. Faculty and Staff that do wear their Alma Mater gear will be able to participate in a raffle to win some great prizes. Following this October Alma Mater Day, we will hold an Alma Mater Day every Friday in November during the application season to raise students’ awareness of different campuses.

Additionally, on Transfer Day, UCSB will be offering a special presentation that afternoon in the Learning Center and individual advising appointments following the presentation in the Transfer Center for students.

For the remaining activities as part of Transfer Awareness Month, the Transfer Center, in collaboration with the Career Center, the Office of Financial Aid and The Learning Center, will be hosting various workshops for transfer students.

For more information on Transfer Awareness Month, workshops, and/or events, please contact the Transfer Center by stopping by building 2, room 2-227, calling us at (650) 738-4232, or contacting Michele Haggar, Program Services Coordinator for the Transfer Center at haggarm@smccd.edu. You can also visit our website, and click on “Workshop and Events” and “College Rep Visits” on the left-hand navigation.

We look forward to seeing you at some or all of our events this month and we thank everyone for their support in helping us keep our focus on students and their success here at Skyline College.
