On Friday, October 18, 2013, Jocelyn Vila, Program Services Coordinator in the Financial Aid Office, facilitated a workshop for TRiO SSS students regarding Financial Aid. Over fifteen TRiO SSS students were present for this informational workshop.
During the workshop, Jocelyn presented on recent changes to Financial Aid, particularly focusing on the Federal Pell Grant Program; however, she also addressed Cal Grants, Loans, and Work-Study. Furthermore, Jocelyn encouraged every student present to apply for scholarships, stressed the importance of planning every semester carefully, and meeting with an academic and financial aid counselor regularly.
Students were very engaged throughout the workshop and appreciated the opportunity to ask questions and get clarification on their Financial Aid concerns. A special thank you to Jocelyn Vila and the Financial Aid Office for their collaboration!
