Hey Trojans! In case you missed what happened this past week, here’s a recap.
Friday, August 19, 2022 – Donuts
ASSC members Anthony and Win handed out 150 donuts to students in the morning.
Monday, August 22, 2022 – Navigation and Boxed Lunch Giveaway
ASSC and faculty members kicked off the week by handing out boxed lunches from Pacific Dining between 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the Quad. Together, we were able to serve 250 students with free sandwiches, cookies, brownies, fruit, macaroni salad, and spa water. Along with the free lunches, students had access to departments like Outreach, Counseling, Financial Aid, and Health Services who helped hundreds of students learn more about navigating the school year and the resources available at Skyline College.
Tuesday, August 23, 2022 – Find Your Communities
Students were able to connect with the various learning communities and clubs on campus. Many clubs and communities like KLC, Puente, ASTEP-UMOJA, FYE, CIPHER, STEM, and MESA engaged with students in Building 6 through interactive tabling and activities.
Wednesday, August 24, 2022 – Get the Bag
Given all the expenses that come with college, students had the opportunity to learn about on-campus resources and programs like Promise, EOPS/CARE, Financial Aid, and scholarships which help lessen the cost of college. ASSC also gave out free coffee, tea, water, and donuts to students dropping by.
Thursday, August 25, 2022 – Building Pathways to Success
Students discovered programs and courses reflecting their interests with access to on-site counselors, presentations, and organizations like Cosmetology, Allied Health, CTE (workforce), and Meta Majors.
Friday, August 26, 2022 – Skyline and Chill
To end the week, ASSC screened Monsters University in Room 6-210 in the morning, which was followed by free ice cream and milkshakes from Mr.Softee in the afternoon. Around 140 students were served, and as they waited in line, ASSC offered them chips, granola bars, and water.
Thanks for joining us this past week.
