IMG_3457On February 25, 2014, Andrea Vizenor Director, of Retail, Hospitality, and Tourism at Skyline College hosted the San Mateo County Hospitality Teachers Reception.  Teachers in attendance were from Mills High School, Sequoia High School, Aragon High School, Woodside High School, San Mateo High School & District Office, Hillsdale High School, Peninsula Alternative School, Half Moon Bay, and Jefferson Union High School District. It was an amazing opportunity to identify ways to strengthen career pathway opportunities for students.

Teachers also learned of exciting professional development sessions and projects that will be made available as part of the grant.  During this reception we also shared details around the development of the Hospitality and Tourism Management program being developed at Skyline College for students to begin enrolling in for Fall 2014.  There was a lot of excitement around the room and teachers were very committed to partnering to provide cohesive connections for students interested in pursuing Hospitality and Tourism educational and career pathways!  This event is part of the Deputy Sector Navigator, Retail, Hospitality and Tourism “Learn and Earn” Grant awarded to Skyline College and the California Community Colleges Doing What Matters for Jobs and the Economy Initiative through the State Chancellors Office.
