Welcome to the 2013-2014 Academic Year here at Skyline College. We are going to have a great year. We are fortunate to be able to welcome many new faculty and staff to the college family. The students are here and ready to learn. We had a very inspiring opening day meeting and we would not have been able to do so were it not for a wonder staff that pulled together to make it enjoyable. I want to take this moment to thank the cabinet members for their leadership in making all of the items available for our enjoyment on the first day, including the Annual Plan, a beautiful program with all of the new faculty and staff photographs, an ambitious schedule complete with faculty and staff development opportunities and a phenomenal speaker, Dr. Jeff Duncan-Andrade.
I also want to thank the people behind the scenes who made such a wonderful gathering look like magic – Theresa Tentes in Office of the President, Golda Margate in the Vice President Student Services office, Bryan Besnyi, Maria Norris and Sherrie Prasad in the Vice President Instruction office, Linda Bertellotti and Lynette Gray, in the Vice President of Administrative Services office, Amory Cariadus and John Saenz in the Center for Student Life and Leadership Development office, Katie Beverly and the staff in the Graphic Arts and Production Department, Kevin Chak and the staff in the Bookstore, Cherie Colin, Keisha Ford, Raul Guerra and Jared Martin in the Marketing, Communications and Public Relations office, Kamla Bucceri, Ira Lau, Ricardo Flores, Jim Petromilli in the Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning, Jan Phemester of the Chancellor’s Office, Jose Milan , Leitu Takapu, Bianca Porras, Alvin Wu and Griselda Erazo, Student Assistants/Student Ambassadors from the Student Services One Stop Center, Michael Rojas of the Disability Resource Center, Alan Ceccarelli and Kathy Fitzpatrick in Social Science Creative Arts Division, Annie Trinh, Nancy Argarin and Marci Escobar in Vice President of Administrative Services office, Rick McMahon and his staff in Pacific Dining, the staff of the Facilities, Planning and Operations office.
Also, let me take a moment to publicly acknowledge and thank Vice Chancellor Jose Nuñez, Karen Powel, Karen Pinkham and their teams for giving us a beautiful theater in which to welcome the new year! It is gorgeous, and it is the kind of facilities that are befitting to our deserving Skyline College family.
