The International Student Program (ISP) celebrated the last day of International Education Week (IEW) with coffee hour and workshop for Skyline College international students. The event took place on Thursday, November 19, 2015and it attracted more than 30 international students currently attending Skyline College.
The workshop focused on internship and job opportunities for international students. Mr. Steven Cooney, Business Professor and Cooperative Education Program Coordinator at Skyline College, stressed the importance of internships while in college, and introduced the services and resources provided by the Cooperative Education Program. Following Mr. Cooney’s presentation, Wissem Bennani, ISP Manager, and Chikako Walker, ISP Program Services Coordinator, reviewed the immigration policies regarding international students and announced a job and volunteer opportunities with the ISP office.
At the end of the event, the students shared their experiences with the college so far. Mohammad Izwan Zainol Bahar, an international student from Malaysia, expressed his appreciation for the faculty and staff members at Skyline College: “I am enjoying all of my classes at the college. The faculty and staff members are very friendly and helpful here.” Mark Gustave, a student from St. Lucia who recently landed a job with Apple, shared his experience as a student assistant with the ISP office: “The experience I gained through ISP definitely helped obtain my current position. I brought one of the publications I designed for the ISP office to my interview and they loved it.”
