During the Spring 2020 semester, over twenty San Mateo County Community College District (SMCCCD) students were studying abroad in Florence, Italy, as part of the Northern California Study Abroad Consortium (NCSAC) Semester Abroad Program. As the Covid-19 virus began to spread from Northern Italy, SMCCCD, along with colleges across the country, suspended their program and worked with their partner organization abroad—the American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS)—to bring students back home safely and swiftly.
You can hear the stories of three of our students who were in Italy during the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic here.
We would like to thank our students for sharing their stories, as well as the SMCCCD Study Abroad and Skyline College Passport Office staff for their collaboration in creating this video.
