Last Friday, the STEM Center buzzed with excitement as over 60 students gathered for the annual Internship Roadshow. The event, jointly organized by MESA, IMMERSE in STEM, the STEM Center, and the Chemistry Department, showcased the experiences of 14 students who completed internships and research projects over the summer.

The presenters were:

● nEXO: Dasha Baitazarova, Tin Htoo, Aryanna Mendoza, Eslin Villalta, and Valeria Zarco

● ASPIRE (NASA): Roger Boucher

● SJSU: Yuting Duan, Ashley Gutierrez Carreto, Aaron Torres Mendoza, Ariana Cerna

● LBNL: Codie Lai

● CalTrans: John Rada

● Study Abroad: Allan Arata-Vega

● Neurona Therapeutics: Brianna Xu

● Award-winning DataJam Team: Amapola Garcia Gomez

The presenters shared valuable insights about their time working in various fields, offering peers a glimpse into real world applications of their studies. They also provided tips on securing these opportunities and demystifying the internship application process for attendees.

The event not only highlighted the achievements of the presenters but also motivated other students to pursue similar opportunities. Presenters took the opportunity to grow professionally by practicing their presentation skills, which will come in handy for many as they head to SACNAS and SHPE at the end of the month.

The afternoon wasn’t all business, though. Students enjoyed Boba Tea, sponsored by MESA while networking and discussing. The relaxed atmosphere encouraged open dialogue and allowed attendees to ask questions freely.

As the academic year progresses, many attendees left with newfound enthusiasm for their STEM pursuits and practical knowledge about navigating the world of internships and research.
