On Friday, December 1st, The Golden Gate Forensics Collective hosted the Fall Intramural Speech and Debate Tournament at City College of San Francisco. The collective unites each semester to offer a bi-annual intramural tournament that allows CCSF, SFSU, and Skyline College students to practice and apply methods and skills studied in courses such as public speaking, oral interpretation of literature, persuasion, and debate.
The following students competed in speech events and earned the following awards:
Informative Speaking
• 1st Place(Gold)-Sophie Moore (Sociology Major)
• Finalist(Bronze)-Charlie Christie (Business Administration Major)
• Finalist(Bronze)-Gerson Fernandez (Anthropology Major)
Impromptu Speaking
• 2nd Place(Silver)-Gerson Hernandez
Two students competed in the team Parliamentary Debate earning two top speaker awards:
• 2nd Place Top Speaker(Silver)-Kirsten Faith Bautista (Business Administration Major)
• 3rd Place Top Speaker(Bronze)-Cem Quinto (Psychology Major)

If you want to join the speech and debate team, consider enrolling in COMM 172: Forensics. For the Spring 2024 semester, we meet once a week on Tuesdays from 2:10-4:00 pm. You do not need to be a Communication Studies major to enroll and participate; look at the major/degree diversity represented on our current team. All skill levels and experience are welcome!
