Skyline College’s Beta Theta Omicron chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society International returned triumphant from the Nevada/California Regional Spring Convention held in Newport Beach last weekend. The chapter’s officer team celebrated numerous achievements, demonstrating their commitment to academic excellence and leadership.

Chapter Achievements
The chapter received several prestigious recognitions including:
● Distinguished Theme Award for Theme 1 – “Why We Tell Stories” for their Honors in Action project
● 2nd Most Distinguished Honors in Action Award
● 2nd Most Distinguished Chapter Award
● Recognition for participation in all regional projects: Cultivating Leadership, Cultural Project, Student Success and Career Readiness, Community Project, Founders Day, Chapter United, Community College Smart, and Environmental Outreach
Individual Recognitions
Several members and advisors were also individually recognized for their outstanding contributions:
● Arthur Veloso: 2nd Most Distinguished Alpha Sigma Alpha Award with a $200 scholarship
● Ruby Folber: Most Distinguished Chapter Member Award
● Susanne Schubert: Most Distinguished Paragon Award for New Advisors
● Pia Walawalkar: 2nd Most Distinguished Faculty Recognition Award
Advisor Team Success
The convention also marked a significant milestone for advisors Thanh Nguyen and Susanne Schubert, who were named the 2025 2nd Most Distinguished Chapter Advisor Team of the Nevada/California region. This recognition comes three years after they took over advising the Beta Theta Omicron chapter.
