SAN BRUNO, CA – February 12, 2025 – The Skyline College Women’s Wrestling team, in their inaugural season, made a splash at a recent tournament held at Sacramento City College, exceeding expectations and setting a high bar for the program’s future. Despite being a first-year team, the Trojans showcased their grit and determination, securing a remarkable sixth-place finish out of 15 competing college teams.

The young team proved they were ready to compete, demonstrating skill and dedication throughout the tournament. Two wrestlers stood out with exceptional performances, earning podium finishes in their respective weight classes. Graciela Caro fought her way to a well-deserved third-place victory in the 103-pound division, while Annette Beltran displayed impressive strength and technique, also taking third place in the 180-pound division.

“We are incredibly proud of how our team performed in their first tournament,” said coach Olga Camacho” “To place sixth out of 16 teams, with two individual podium finishes, is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our athletes. This is a fantastic start for our program, and we are excited to see what the rest of the season holds.”

The team’s impressive showing at Sacramento City College signals a promising future for the Skyline College Women’s Wrestling program. The success achieved beyond expectations highlights the talent and potential within the team.

The community is invited to witness the excitement firsthand as the Skyline College Women’s Wrestling team hosts their home opening matches on Wednesday February 19th, at 4:00 PM at Skyline College. The Trojans will face off against formidable opponents from Fresno City College and Santa Rosa Junior College.
