As we look back on the summer and fall 2025 semesters, Skyline College’s Beta Theta Omicron chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society celebrates an extraordinary season of accomplishment. From organizing 15 events to completing two major projects, the chapter has demonstrated remarkable dedication to academic excellence and community engagement.

Throughout the fall, the chapter hosted multiple events spanning the PTK Hallmarks of scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship. Members engaged in workshops, community outreach, and professional development opportunities that enriched their college experience and strengthened connections across campus.

Two major projects anchored the chapter’s work. The Honors in Action research project examined imposter syndrome among community college students, a topic that resonates deeply with many on campus. Additionally, the chapter’s College Project culminated in a Disaster Preparedness Symposium that brought together students, staff, and community partners to address emergency readiness, a critical concern for all.

The chapter’s influence extended well beyond the Skyline campus. Beta Theta Omicron co-hosted the Nevada/California Fall Leadership Conference alongside Cañada College, welcoming PTK members and advisors from across the region. Officers facilitated a workshop, and the chapter coordinated registration, designed badges, and helped ensure a successful conference experience for all attendees. The chapter also organized the district-wide induction ceremony at Skyline College, celebrating the induction of new members into this prestigious honor society.

Over the winter break, the chapter and advisor team worked diligently to complete and submit their Hallmarks award applications, positioning Beta Theta Omicron to compete at the national level. Three individual awards were submitted, recognizing outstanding contributions from Chapter President Genevieve Caamal, Vice President of Records Pakiza Bano, and chapter member Qian Zhao. The advisor team also submitted a Chapter Team Award application to acknowledge the officers’ tremendous work. The chapter also submitted Hallmarks write-ups for both the College Project and the Honors in Action research project, which will compete against the 1300 chapters across the United States.

The chapter has already achieved Five Star status by fulfilling all PTK requirements for competitive participation this academic year. This milestone reflects the dedication and hard work of every member and officer who contributed to the chapter’s success.

None of this would be possible without the generous support of campus partners and administrators who champion student success. The chapter extends heartfelt gratitude to all who provided guidance, resources, and encouragement throughout this remarkable semester.

The chapter now awaits the regional and national results with anticipation. Regardless of the outcome, the growth, learning, and connections forged this fall represent achievements that will serve members well as they continue their academic journeys. Beta Theta Omicron looks forward to building on this momentum in the spring semester!
