In March, three Skyline College Geography Faculty members joined thousands of other geographers from all over the world to share their work, insight, and advocacy in their field. The American Association of Geographers Annual Meeting was held March 17 – March 21 in San Francisco, and featured posters, panels, presentations, plenary speakers, and field trips. Professors Rachel Cunningham, Flavia Lake, and Andy Murillo all contributed to sessions at the Annual Meeting.

Professor Cunningham was a panelist for the session “AI in Geography Education (1): Use, Misuse, and Everything in Between”, as well as a presenter for her project “Artificial Atlases: A Student Exercise in Critiquing AI-Generated Maps.”
Professor Lake was a panelist for multiple roundtables – “Latinx Geographies: Where do you know from? (1)” as well as”(Re)Imagining for Latinx Geographical Pedagogies: Foundations for a Liberatory Geography”. She was also Chair for the roundtable “Latinx Geographies: Where do you know from? (2)”, which is pictured here.
Professor Murillo presented their paper “Cyclists and their Others: Queer Gender & Bicycling in Santa Cruz, CA.”
Next year’s American Association of Geographers Annual Meeting will be held in New York City – see you there!
