On Thursday May 7, 2026 the Skyline College’s Career Services & Skyline’s Bay Area Entrepreneur Center (BAEC) began their Career Services initiative during San Bruno City’s First Thursdays.
The Director of BAEC, Leah McGlauchlin & Community Engagement PSC, Ron Chand opened up the Center to offer a computer lab for community members to work on their resumes and cover letters, printing facilities, and Chand has begun a career readiness workshop series.
The workshop series is a monthly series that runs every Thursday for four weeks. Each week community members will learn Resume Building, Professional Communication, Professionalism, and Networking. Further, if anyone misses a workshop, they can attend the next series as it will repeat every month during the fall and spring semesters.
The BAEC Fellows were also able to partake in the fun and professional development as one of their learning projects is to make an advertising campaign. This entailed planning, implementing, and executing on a multi-tiered campaign: utilizing in person networking, social media, and district websites.
Lastly, Career Services’ Employer Engagement Coordinator, Vania Ruiz will have a different employer in the center who are actively looking to hire. This is a great opportunity for community members and students to find opportunities that would be otherwise difficult to find.
First Thursday are held on… well on the First Thursdays of every month (next ones are on 6/1, 7/2, 8/6…) at Centennial Plaza on San Mateo Avenue from 6pm to 8pm.
Come, have fun and explore the local community and support local businesses and visit a different part of Skyline College at BAEC!
