On Saturday, February 22, Skyline College’s Biotechnology Program members attended the PDA West Coast Chapter & Ohlone College Roundtable and Student Networking Mixer. This event, co-hosted by the West Coast Chapter of the PDA and Ohlone College’s Biotechnology Program, brought together PDA professionals, Ohlone alumni, and students eager to explore careers in biotechnology.

Nick, Katherine and Ellen discuss Quality

The mixer allowed students to self-organize into small discussion groups focused on topics such as Biotech, Clinical Research, Quality Assurance, and other key industry areas. In the featured photo, Skyline instructor Dr. Nick Kapp and student Katherine Khin are seen meeting with Ellen Huynh, Sr. Director of Quality Assurance and Compliance at Bionova Scientific.

The event was well attended with almost every spot filled.

The event was well attended, and almost every spot was filled.

The trip across the Bay was well worth it—seeing Ohlone College’s state-of-the-art facilities and connecting with students and professionals who share a passion for biotechnology. Skyline College thanks the PDA West Coast Chapter for providing materials, organizing topic speakers, and making this event successful.

Looking Ahead: Get Involved!

The Skyline College Biomanufacturing Club is an active and growing program, always looking for new members and opportunities to promote biotechnology. We plan to host a networking event on our campus in Fall 2025, shortly after classes start. The event will allow students to connect, explore biotech careers, and build valuable industry relationships.

Stay tuned for updates, and if you’re interested in getting involved in biomanufacturing and biotechnology, we’d love to have you join us!
