Conference flyerPlease join us on Saturday March 19, 2016 for a lively half-day conference, Schools Our Children Deserve, at Skyline College.  The San Mateo Community College Federation of Teachers is collaborating with the Jefferson Elementary and the Jefferson High School unions to bring the community together to talk about a subject near and dear to all of us:  public education, and Skyline College is co-sponsoring the event. Registration  starts at 7:30 a.m. in the Main Theatre lobby and the conference gets underway at 8:30 a.m. and goes until 1:30 p.m.

Come hear exciting keynote speaker and youth advocate, Jeff Duncan Andrade; enjoy opening remarks by former legislator and current Skyline College professor, Tom Ammiano; and choose between 16 separate breakout workshops, discussing everything from EC/Pre-K issues to immigration to restorative justice.  Northern San Mateo county community groups, National AFT representatives, local elementary and high school teachers and parents as well as SMCCD faculty, staff and students will all be presenting workshops. The conference is free, and all participants will be served breakfast, lunch, and have an opportunity to pick up free childrens’ books auspices of National AFT in Washington, as well as certificates of participation, free backpacks and much more.
