On Thursday, December 4, 2025, the Puente Learning Community hosted its annual Holiday Celebration welcoming Puentistas, Puente mentors, and supporters for an evening of community, fun, creativity, and tamales.

Puente students, mentors, staff, and faculty joined in a friendly competition through a variety of games and activities. From placing bows into a bowl while blindfolded to playing a holiday twist on musical chairs, the night was full of laughter, connection, and bonding.

The night wrapped up with some winners! Longtime Puente mentor Leo Rosales won “Best Holiday Sweater”, Iveth Lopez Obeso won the candy-guessing challenge, and Puente Mentor Clair Yeo-Sugajski and Mentee Alexa Herrera came out on top with their creative gingerbread design.

At the heart of the celebration was the same belief that guides Puente year-round: building community fosters belonging, well-being, and student success. Puente is grateful to close out a meaningful Fall 2025 semester. From active learning in the Puente classes, monthly PILAS (Puente Inspiring Leaders and Success) sessions to mentor events, the UC Davis Puente conference, wrap-around support, and much more. Thank you to everyone who supports, advocates for, and believes in the Puente Project.

Happy Holidays & Feliz Año Nuevo from the Puente Team!
