Psi Beta, a national honor society with an emphasis on Psychology, is proud to host Thriving Thursdays, a series designed to share information related to mental health and well-being.

Our first speaker of the series was Perry Chen, a Psychological Services Counselor at Skyline College. Perry’s talk focused on mindfulness, which is the act of living in the present moment. Perry shared the benefits of mindfulness and led us in several mindful activities including a short period of meditation, a body scan, and mindful eating. This last exercise was particularly interesting as it included noticing how food looks, tastes, smells, and feels as we eat. Perry brought dried blueberries for this activity and one attendee remarked that never before had they experienced the joy of holding a dried fruit!
