Psi Beta, a National Honor Society with an emphasis on Psychology, is proud to host Thriving Thursdays, a series designed to share information related to mental health and well-being. Our first speaker in the series was Skyline College Personal Counselor, Perry Chen.

Perry’s presentation, “How to Let Go and Move On,” explored the feelings of being stuck that often follow professional regrets, the loss of a loved one, a broken relationship, or leaving a meaningful place behind. He emphasized that while many associate grief solely with death, it can manifest in various life experiences. He highlighted the difference between grief, which is a psychological state, and mourning, the outward expression of that grief. He stressed the importance of acknowledging and experiencing both in the effort to move on. He also shared the importance of being vulnerable enough to share what you are experiencing with someone else as well as how to be a good listener when someone is being vulnerable with you.

Thriving Thursdays would not be possible without our amazing counselors. We are grateful for their continued support and collaboration.
