Psi Beta Honor Society members recently attended the Western Psychological Association’s annual conference, themed “Psychology Applied to Everything.” We had a fantastic time learning, building community, and collaborating with others in the field.

Several sessions stood out to students, including those on avoiding burnout, the effects of technology on attention span and comprehension, the importance of savoring the moment, and exploring career paths in psychology and counseling.
We were especially excited to support Skyline College Psi Beta member Rhema Palencia, who presented her poster “Social Capital and Psychological Dimensions in Revitalizing Bay Area Downtowns.” Her presentation drew a lot of interest, and it was great to see her share her research and network with fellow attendees.
A few days after returning, we met on Zoom to debrief, reflect on what we had learned, and discuss how we planned to apply it moving forward. We recorded the session—if you’re interested, check out the video at the link below. It’s 30 minutes long (we covered a lot!), but you can always put us on double speed! https://youtu.be/JICtBZuKACI
