On Friday, September 26, 2025 the Skyline College’s Strategic Partnerships & Workforce Development (SPWD) had one of their first “Do Not Cancel Class” sessions in Prof. Monique Ubungen Wardell’s English 100 class, where Career Readiness Coordinator Ron Chand taught Professionalism & Personal Branding and Resume Building to a full class (at 8:00 a.m. no less!).

Career Services began the initiative to make use of the class time that would otherwise be lost when a professor cannot make a class session (to present to an already captive audience [sorry, students, no sleeping in today]). Under Dean Lauren Ford’s guidance, Career Readiness Coordinators promoted the service to Faculty and Staff during Skyline’s most recent Flex Day, and a number of faculty took up the offer.

The available topics for “Do Not Cancel Class” are:

· Career Services Informational Session

· Resume Building

· Interviewing Tips & Tricks

· Professionalism & Personal Branding

· Face-to-Face Networking

· LinkedIn & Digital Networking

They can be tailored for whatever length the class session requires. “Do Not Cancel Class” is also available to all student programs and clubs, including ESOL & ESL Connect, Guardian Scholars & NextUP, and Kababayan. Career Services can come into your space and hold a workshop if you do not have a designated space. Career Services can always find a spare room or two.

Faculty and Programmatic Staff can request a Do Not Cancel Class by using this form.

If, for whatever reason, you cannot make class… PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL CLASS! Let Career Services take over!
