To kick off Filipinx-American History Month (FAHM), the Associated Students of Skyline College (ASSC) hosted a movie screening of The Debut on October 2, 2025, in Building 6, Room 6202.

Around 20 students attended the event, watching the groundbreaking Filipino American film that explores the experiences of second-generation Filipino Americans navigating family expectations, cultural pride, and identity. Attendees enjoyed the film alongside delicious Filipino snacks while connecting through shared reflections and conversation.

Following the screening, participants engaged in a short open discussion, reflecting on how The Debut relates to their own experiences and the broader importance of representation in media.

Many shared that the film helped them better understand the balance between heritage and individuality.
The event highlighted ASSC’s ongoing efforts to foster cross-cultural dialogue and community engagement, celebrating the diverse stories that make up Skyline College.
