As Skyline College unveils its new logo for 2023, it’s a perfect time to reflect on the evolution of its visual identity since its inception in 1969. Founded as a pillar of educational excellence in San Bruno, Skyline College has undergone remarkable transformations over the past 54 years.

To celebrate this journey, students are invited to explore a small exhibit inside Skyline College’s Library (2nd floor, Building 5), where we showcase logos and catalogs from the college’s beginnings to the present day.

The story of Skyline College’s logos reflects the institution’s growth and adaptability. The exhibit features artists’ proofs of the original 1969 logo and, over the subsequent decades, changes in logos reflect the institution’s evolving ethos.

Course catalogs on display also provide a glimpse into each era’s cultural and academic context, offering a time-traveling experience through academic history. Catalogs from pivotal years such as 1969, 1979, 1989, 1999, 2009, and 2019 provide a window into the courses offered, the prevailing educational philosophies, and the diverse students and employees who have passed through our halls and contributed to our college legacy.

Materials on display are part of the Library’s Skyline College Archives collection organized during our College’s 50th Anniversary. We encourage everyone to drop by the Library and take a glimpse into Skyline College’s rich history. The exhibit is next to our scanning station, facing the computer area.
