Who says libraries are boring??? Not in our case! It’s been a really fast and fun semester here at the Skyline College Library! We created a few new activities that were a big hit among students, staff and faculty! And we made some new hangout spaces for you to chill out in, study in and play in! In the front of our library there is now a cozy and welcoming lounge with a phone charging station. And behind the Librarian Reference Desk there is a new and colorful hangout spot with games, stuffed animals, our easy reading collections and even a full-size Study Skeleton! So yes, we are a fun library! Not boring.

At the beginning of the semester we started a Community Craft Club that met every other Thursday afternoon. Many beautiful memories were made, not to mention all the arts and crafts! During the last Craft Club meetup, May 7th, we all got together and made Vision Boards for the summer, the coming school year and/or for our general future lives. We put out dozens of bright, shiny magazines like National Geographic, GQ, Vogue, Popular Science, California History and Healthy Living. We paged through them and when inspired by a picture, a word, a phrase, a color, we cut them out with sharp scissors, laid them out in a collage and glued them down front and back onto cardstock. This experience was very relaxing and also cathartic and emotional in all the good ways. People say they want to do this one again!

Our culminating event was a super fun Trivia Night @ the Library with Music & Art as a theme for the questions. We had a great turnout of participants and everyone had a fun time eating snacks, naming their teams, learning the online game mechanics (using Crowdpurr.com) and playing three rounds of trivia! At the end of round three we added up the points of each player and the highest scoring three winners chose cool prizes to take home!

We want to thank everyone who came to the Library events we hosted this past year! And thank you for coming in to see our new spaces, using them as best fits your needs, whether it be to study hard, get research help, do a puzzle or just hug Fluffles the Cat. Thank you for being such a wonderful campus community. Now, let’s do Summer! More fun to be had here in our Skyline Library!
