On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, American Academy of English (AAE) students came to Skyline College for a campus tour. An International Student Program (ISP) Student Ambassador, Mabel Lynn, guided the students in the pleasant weather, accompanied by Jia Chuan Lu, an International Education Program Specialist.

The tour started in the welcoming space of the Intercultural Center at Building 4, where various events typically occur. The students walked to Building 5, where the Learning Center and the Library reside. They then took a quick peek at the library and were introduced to the available support services. Right after leaving Building 5, the students visited Building 6, where all the fun is. The lively atmosphere of a campus event welcomed the students, along with the scent of fresh coffee and food flowing from SkyCafe and World Cup Coffee & Tea. Passing through the hallway in Building 6, the students were briefly introduced to the Public Safety Office and the Bookstore. They then took a quick stroll inside the Bookstore to check out various items offered, including Skyline College swag.

The group then went to Building 7, where all the resourceful STEM-related facilities are. They were shown the MESA (Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement) Center, the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Center, the Fab Lab, and many others while passing through a hallway into Building 8. Going through the hallways of Building 8, the students had a sneak peek at the English classes that were taking place. Mabel then guided the students to the Environmental Science Building, Building 12 – the vista point of Skyline College. As soon as the group stepped foot into the building, they were in awe of the breathtaking views of the sea and the coastline under the clear blue skies and were eager to take pictures to save it as mementos. The tour was a great success as the students grasped the idea of attending a community college and were met with such a welcoming atmosphere.

The International Student Program is part of the Global Learning Programs and Services Division. ISP will continue to provide services and programs for international students as well as for the entire Skyline College community.
