On October 13, 2025, the International Student Program (ISP) and the District Office for International Education at San Mateo County Community Colleges hosted 11 representatives from the California State University system. Among these were Cal Polytechnic State University, CSU Long Beach, Sacramento State, CSU Chico, Cal State Monterey Bay, San Francisco State University, Cal State East Bay, CSU San Bernardino, San Jose State University, CSU Fullerton, and Sonoma State University. The event introduced international students to colleges from across the CSU system and encouraged them to explore different universities where they can transfer upon completing their time at Skyline College.

Students discussed topics such as the affordability of CSUs, scholarship opportunities, and unique majors available with the representatives. The representatives from Sonoma State and Cal Poly highlighted their Wine Business Institute and Wine and Viticulture majors, which are closely connected to their local communities. The representative from CSU Long Beach proudly spoke about the university’s large international student population and the numerous extracurricular opportunities available to students. CSU Fullerton and San Jose State University highlighted their proximity to companies that offer students CPT (Curricular Practical Training) and OPT (Optional Practical Training) opportunities. Students left the event with an admissions contact for each institution and instructions on how to apply to transfer from Skyline College.

The International Student Program is part of Enrollment Services & Support Programs. ISP will continue to provide services and programs for international students as well as for the entire Skyline College community. If you are interested in learning more about future ISP programs and events, contact the ISP office at skyinternational@smccd.edu.
