On Saturday, February 24, Phi Theta Kappa and Psi Beta members came together to participate in a beach clean-up hosted by the Pacific Beach Coalition. This organization is an award-winning volunteer-driven community passionate about protecting and preserving the ocean, beaches, creeks, wildlife, and native habitats.

We met at Mussel Rock, a beautiful stretch of bluffs with sweeping scenic views of the Pacific Ocean that used to be home to the Daly City Scavenger Company. While collecting trash, we also recovered some remnants from the landfill, including rusty bicycle handlebars, a 1970’s era 7-Up bottle, and, winning strangest/ creepiest object collected by our group, a headless 1973 Eegee Baby Doll.

In addition to civic engagement, the group also had the opportunity to build community by having lunch together. It was a wonderful way to spend a Saturday!
