On November 18, 2025, Skyline College Career Services hosted a Lunch & Learn event featuring a panel of construction trade professionals. This event, along with a few others this year, is a part of the President’s Innovation Fund (PIF) grant- Lunch & Learn: Empowering Student Success Through Exploration and Engagement. The series is designed to promote career development and exploration through engaging events that include a complimentary lunch.
The most recent event brought together five professionals from different trades (electrician, plumber, bricklayer, glazer, and sheet metal worker) along with a representative from the San Mateo Trades Introduction Program (TIP). In a panel format, they shared insights about their crafts, pathways for getting started, and practical advice for students interested in the trades.
The event drew fifty students and community members. Participants expressed appreciation for the speakers, the information shared, and, of course, the lunch provided.
