The Skyline College Financial Aid Department is proud to welcome Patricia Flores as the new Program Services Coordinator. In this new position, she will help promote financial aid and scholarships through in reach and outreach efforts, work one-on-one with high need students and collaborate with additional campus programs, learning communities and services.
Patricia has worked for several California Community Colleges for over five years. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from San Francisco State University and Masters Degree in Finance from Notre Dame de Namur University. As a first generation student, she began her journey as a Federal Work Study student and became a staff member at the College of San Mateo. From there she began to work in various departments in Enrollment Services such as Counseling, Transfer, Career Services, DSPS, and Assessment Center, which led to her passion to help other students with achieving their educational goals through various services and resources the campus had to offer. Upon graduating, Patricia worked at DeAnza College Counseling Department, where she continued to work with students and community members. She understood the importance of how critical it was for new and returning students to be informed and utilize all available resources. Whether it was to apply to college, financial aid, tutoring and scheduling a counseling appointment, they are all part of student success.
Prior to joining Skyline College, Patricia worked as a technical recruiter which heavily involved community outreach through event planning, presentations, hosting skill building workshops and establishing partnerships with local community colleges to help students find outstanding employment opportunities.
In spring 2017, Patricia joined the Skyline College Financial Aid Department as a Financial Aid Assistant where she continued to help students apply for financial aid and scholarships, understand their financial aid status, and connect with other Skyline College programs services. Patricia was given the opportunity to take on the responsibilities as a temporary Financial Aid Technician. She rapidly learned how to process and award Federal/State Aid.
