Last week, the EOPS, CARE/CalWORKs, Guardian Scholars (GSP), and NextUp Teams proudly attended the EOPS 55th Anniversary Conference, held September 30 – October 2, 2025, in Sacramento, CA.
This milestone event brought together community college professionals from across the state to celebrate over five decades of transforming lives through educational opportunity and equity. The conference provided valuable updates on statewide program efforts, policy changes, and new funding directions that will shape how colleges continue to serve students most effectively.

Beyond program updates, the event also served as a platform for community building and collaboration, enabling teams to share innovative ideas, strengthen partnerships, and acquire new strategies to better support students through EOPS, CARE/CalWORKs, GSP, and NextUp initiatives.

A special highlight of the conference was the recognition of Jose Milan and Rocio Aguilar-Pedroza, who were celebrated for their five years of dedicated service and contributions to Skyline College and its student success programs. Their commitment continues to make a lasting impact on our campus community.
In attendance:
Melanie Espinueva, Guillermo Alonzo, Lucy Jovel, Jose Milan, Karmann Robbins, Rocio Aguilar-Pedroza, Mandy Lucas and Jose Cartagena
