The International Student Program (ISP) hosted a Skyline College Campus Tour for Education First San Francisco international students on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. Hnin Thandar Win, an ISP Student Ambassador, led the campus tour, accompanied by Chikako Walker, Acting Director of International Education, and Jia Chuan Lu, Program Specialist of International Education.
The tour started at the Intercultural Center in Building 4 and students first visited the International Student Program office. Next, the students headed to Building 5, where they got to know and explore the Learning Center and the Library. At Building 6, the students visited Fireside Dining, a favorite hangout spot for many Skyline College students, and the Bookstore, the go-to place for Skyline College merchandise and snacks. Next, they went to Building 7 to see a variety of amazing STEM-related facilities and resources, including the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Center, and the MESA (Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement) Center.
Afterwards, Hnin escorted everybody to Building 12 and through Building 8 to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view of Pacifica and the Pacific Ocean, which was a great opportunity for our visitors to take photos. The last stop of the tour was Building 1, where students visited the ceramics classroom and musical theater, where they got to see all of the various musical instruments. The tour of Building 1 was assisted by the Dean of Social Science and Creative Arts, Danni Redding Lapuz.
The program came to a close with a presentation and Q&A session by the Program Manager of the International Student Program, Clair Yeo-Sugajski, at the Intercultural Center in Building 4 as attendees had lunch. It was a successful tour as the students were able to gain a better idea of life as a community college international student.
