On February 12, 2025, Skyline College’s Embracing Cultures, Heritages & Origins (ECHO) Club hosted its Sweet Hearts & Self-Love event, bringing students together to celebrate love in all its forms—friendship, self-care, and community. Held at the Intercultural Center (Bldg. 4, Room 4-240), the event encouraged students to express themselves through creativity and connection.

Led by William Ordoyo (Vice President of ECHO Club), with the support of the ECHO leadership team—Mabel Lynn (President), Htut Bhone Naung “Ace” (Secretary), Toakase Toke (Treasurer), and Sky Wun (SOCC Liaison)—the event welcomed over 20 participants for an afternoon of fun and reflection.
The event kicked off with a Switch & Decorate Cookie Challenge, in which participants were paired and took turns decorating heart-shaped cookies. To make the activity more interactive, the ECHO Club ran two rounds of the challenge, assigning students a different partner each round. This encouraged new connections and a fun mix of decorating styles, resulting in beautifully unique cookies that showcased everyone’s creativity.
Following the cookie challenge, attendees participated in self-love card making, designing heartfelt letters either for themselves or for someone special. This reflective activity encouraged self-appreciation and gratitude, fostering a warm and supportive atmosphere.
To conclude the gathering, participants shared their creations, exchanging kind words and admiring each other’s work. A group photo captured the joy and camaraderie of the moment, marking a triumphant celebration of love and self-care.

With chocolates, drinks, and a welcoming space for cultural expression, ECHO Club’s Sweet Hearts & Self-Love event created lasting memories for all who attended. Events like these highlight the importance of self-care, cultural appreciation, and community building at Skyline College.
