The Disability Resource Center kicked off Disability Awareness Month with a Tell Your Story Listening Booth powered by Storycorp and the Disability Visibility Project.
Students, faculty, and staff passing through Building 6 were encouraged to stop and take a few moments to listen to personal stories of individuals with disabilities.
Students were also encouraged to write or draw their responses to what they heard.
“It’s a great reminder to see the humanity in other people,” stated one participant.
DRC has a wide variety of events throughout October including a Transferring Accommodations to the 4 Year on Oct. 19th and a Monday Movie on disability and the arts on Oct. 23rd.
DRC will be providing tickets for a drawing to all individuals who attend Disability Awareness Month events. The drawing will take place at the final event on Nov. 9, Going Beyond Inspirational.
