On the afternoon of Thursday, September 28, 2023, the newly reactivated Chinese Student Scholars Association (CSSA) club collaborated with the ASSC to host their very first event in over 5 years.
The CSSA brought to our campus a Chinese celebration of the Mooncake Festival, which is also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival. The Mid-Autumn Festival falls around the 15th of August each year, depending on the Chinese lunar calendar. The celebration happens on the day that the moon is at its fullest.
Skyline College has a huge Chinese population of students, faculty, and staff – many people think of their friends and family during this time as they enjoy the full moon and eat moon cakes.
CSSA President Mowen Tan did not disappoint her peers, as many students & campus community members came to the event in Building 6 and gathered to eat some delicious Chinese food, try mooncakes, and learn about what the Mooncake Festival commemorates.
Supported by their full-time staff advisor Kelly Li, CSSA hosted a very successful event, full of lunch, laughter & everyone left with new knowledge of Chinese culture.
