Covered California Image for Skyline Shines ArticleOn Wednesday, December 3, 2014 SparkPoint at Skyline College welcomed Regina Cruz, Covered California Certified Enrollment Counselor, to campus! Regina will come to Skyline College every Wednesday through February 11, 2015 to provide Covered California enrollment assistance to students, staff, faculty and community members during open enrollment.

Individuals have until February 15, 2015 to obtain health insurance through Covered California for the year 2015. Most individuals are required to have health insurance to avoid paying a tax penalty of 2% of the household’s income or $325 per adult and $162.50 per child, whichever is the greater amount.

Regina will be available to answer questions and assist with Covered California health insurance applications from 10:00am – 4:30pm on Wednesdays. To schedule an appointment, please contact SparkPoint at Skyline College:

Phone: (650) 738-7035

Email: skybacc@smccd.edu

Location: Building 1, 2nd Floor, Room 1214

Individuals and families whose income falls below 400% of the federal poverty level may be eligible for federal financial assistance to pay for health insurance premiums. Individuals and families whose income falls above this threshold have the option of purchasing an affordable health plan through Covered California without premium assistance.

Please help us spread awareness on campus about this wonderful opportunity for students, staff, faculty and community members to meet one-on-one with Regina to discuss their health plan options. We want to ensure that everyone in our community has access to quality, affordable healthcare and that they are not subject to unnecessary tax penalties in 2015. Thank you!
