On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, Skyline College’s Career Services & Millbrae Public Library began their Career Services initiative during San Bruno City’s First Thursdays.

The Community Engagement PSC, Ron Chand, and Employer Engagement Coordinator, Vania Ruiz, collaborated to offer career services at the public library. Ruiz worked with employers who were actively hiring and asked them to table alongside Skyline Career Services. This allows two things: 1) community members can access employment opportunities that may be obfuscated to them for a myriad of reasons, and 2) if community members are interested in the offered positions, they can get resume support right there and then. Further, they can attend Chand’s workshop series.

The workshop series runs every four weeks. Each time, community members will learn Resume Building, Professional Communication, Professionalism, and Networking. If community members attend all four, they will receive a Millbrae Public Library certificate to add to their resumes. Moreover, if anyone misses a workshop, they can attend the next session, as it repeats every month during the fall and spring semesters.

This initiative provides an equitable venue for all who may need career services and continues Skyline College’s mission.

The next upcoming dates are:

· Tue 6/2/2026 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

· Tue 6/9/2026 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

· Tue 6/30/2026 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Come, have fun and explore all of the library services!
