On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, Skyline College’s Career Services began collaborating with Middle College to launch a workshop series in which students will learn how to write a compelling resume, nail an interview, and network like a pro.

Middle College students at Skyline are a unique bunch because they are both high school and college students. So, Ron Chand, a Career Readiness Coordinator, developed a workshop series specifically tailored for them, and the workshops will be held every month until graduation.

A need that most high school students (and college students) are facing is a demand of experience for entry level jobs, so the first workshop was developed to leverage class work as work experience.

Middle College students are in an amazing position for success and they are motivated to use their time here at Skyline to their fullest. So, the second workshop was created to use student’s enthusiasm to maximum effect by gearing it toward networking in a professional setting. Here students learned how to get the ear of someone in a position of power who can help them land that competitive internship or entry level job.

The last workshop is all about interviewing and using that limited amount of time to make the best impression they can. Students learned best practices and then practiced with one another.

In an ever-competitive job market especially for entry level jobs, high schoolers or recent graduates need to use every trick in the book to get that call back.
