On October 15, 2025, Rachel Fouts, International Admissions Counselor for California Baptist University (CBU), visited Skyline College to give a special presentation on CBU’s top programs: Business, Nursing, STEM, and Psychology. California Baptist University is located in sunny Riverside, California. These programs are among the top majors for international students at Skyline College who seek to transfer to a four-year university. Rachel’s presentation directly addressed the specific needs and concerns of Skyline College’s international student body, helping them make informed decisions about where their academic and career paths can take them.
She also provided clear insight into what it would be like to pursue a degree at CBU by discussing the details of CBU’s Business, Nursing, STEM, and Psychology degrees, highlighting the optional concentrations in these majors that allowed students to better understand what they could study. She also highlighted the Curricular Practical Training (CPT) program opportunities available with each degree and concentration, as students are keen to gain relevant work experience to complement their studies. Rachel also spoke proudly of the strong support for international students that CBU demonstrates through their thriving international student community of over 350 students and an impressive 95% OPT hire rate, strengthened by their close alumni network.
The session also addressed common concerns about the international student applicant experience, such as navigating the application process and seeking scholarship opportunities. Rachel provided important prior acceptance statistics and went over CBU’s clear, concise application process, which includes the option to have a video conference with a counselor in place of writing a traditional essay. International students at CBU can also take advantage of numerous scholarships to help make their education more affordable. Overall, students left the session feeling empowered with the information they could apply to CBU upon completing their time at Skyline College.
