On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, Skyline College’s Career Services’ Community Engagement PSC Ron Chand, in collaboration with Angelique Fuentes, PSC from Dual Enrollment, and Brian Chew, College and Career Readiness teacher, from Middle College, held an end-of-semester mock interview event.

Chand held monthly workshops at Middle College & Capuchino High School with their Dual Enrollment students, where he conducted professional development for graduating seniors from the former and sophomores & juniors from the latter to prepare them for mock interviews. Students learned how to speak about their academic and lived experiences, networking, and professional communication, and they also received the rubric and interview questions in advance to practice, practice, and practice some more.

Over 50 industry professionals volunteered their time to serve as interviewers; there were two 30-minute rounds to accommodate the large number of students. During lunch, students were able to saddle up next to an industry professional of their choosing and practice the networking skills they learned at one of Chand’s workshops.

In addition to practicing interviewing and networking, students were able to access Career Services’ Career Closet, where Career Services Aide Maria Rosaria Di Criscienzo was on site to help students pick out professional clothing and offer styling tips by setting up a “pop-up shop.” Students were able to peruse the selections and speak with the Student Assistants, Ana Aragona, Katelyn Pansoy, Carlos John Escala, and Rosy Lwin, who were in attendance to give fashion advice that did not come from Chand (who happens to be a geriatric millennial).

Claudia Paz, Visual Communications Coordinator, was also on site taking professional headshots so students can have a fresh photo for their socials and LinkedIn, and John Chew, Instructional Aide, held a workshop for students.

By the end of the event, students took home professional clothing and a filled-out rubric with feedback, which they could take to work on and practice, so when they are ready for real interviews, they will have tangible feedback to improve and a taste of real-world interview experience.
