On Thursday, September 25, we proudly hosted the Black and Brown Scholars (BBS) Open House, bringing together over 70 students for an afternoon of connection, community, and empowerment.

Students had the opportunity to learn more about the Black and Brown Scholars Program—a transformative space designed to uplift men of color on campus through holistic support and leadership development. Our BBS student leaders highlighted upcoming opportunities and emphasized the program’s four guiding pillars:

● Brotherhood – Building authentic bonds of trust, accountability, and shared growth among peers.

● Leadership – Developing the confidence, skills, and vision to lead both on campus and in the wider community.

● Mentorship – Creating networks of support between students, faculty, and community mentors who serve as role models and guides.

● Civic Engagement – Encouraging active participation in social justice initiatives, community service, and campus leadership roles.

Through conversations and presentations, students gained a clear sense of how BBS will support their academic journeys and personal growth. The Open House also served as a launching point for future events, workshops, and community-building opportunities that embody the spirit of empowerment and solidarity.

The strong turnout reflects the commitment of Skyline College students to building community, supporting one another, and pursuing excellence while staying rooted in culture, identity, and justice. Together, we are building brotherhood, shaping leaders, cultivating mentorship, and inspiring civic engagement.
