On Friday, April 17, the Beta Theta Omicron chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society gathered in the Intercultural Center for its annual end-of-year celebration: BOOCon 2026. The afternoon brought together chapter members, supporters, and the incoming officer candidates for reflection, recognition, and renewal.

The event opened with the outgoing officer team celebrating the chapter’s remarkable achievements over the 2025–26 academic year, capping a year in which the chapter earned five international awards at PTK Catalyst 2025 in Baltimore. Officers also unveiled the chapter’s yearbook, a beautifully assembled showcase of the activities, events, and milestones that defined the year.
The keynote address was delivered by outgoing chapter President Genevieve Caamal, who spoke with candor and grace about the nature of the student journey. She reminded the audience that there is no single, typical path through college and that PTK allowed her to break out of her shell and rediscover herself as a leader. She expressed great pride in having guided the officer team through a year of extraordinary achievement, and her words left a lasting impression on all in attendance.

BOOCon also provided a meaningful opportunity to honor two of the chapter’s most steadfast campus supporters. Dr. Pia Walawalkar and Nadia Tariq were recognized for their invaluable contributions to the chapter’s work throughout the year. Their dedication to student success and their willingness to collaborate with and champion the chapter have made a genuine difference, and the chapter is grateful for all they bring.
The second half of the afternoon turned toward the future, as candidates for the 2026–27 officer team took the floor to introduce themselves, share what PTK means to them, and articulate their vision for the positions they sought. Each candidate delivered a thoughtful speech followed by a Q&A session with the advisor team.
We are thrilled to welcome the newly elected 2026–27 officer team: Mohamed Asfour and Win Shwe Yee as Co-presidents, Abigail Sinarle as VP of College Project, Danqing Shi (Daniel) as VP of Honors in Action, Ei Myat Myat Khit (Mattie) as VP of Membership & Fellowships, Kingston Tsang as VP of Records, Ayone Oo as VP of Scholarships, Fabiola Moreno as VP of Communications, Abdul Jubary as VP of Services, and Mengling Wang (Mandy) as VP of Community Relations.
