On Tuesday, March 20, 2026, Skyline College’s Career Services began collaborating with Skyline’s Bay Area Entrepreneur Center (BAEC) to pilot an internship program with the Burlingame Chambers of Commerce for International Students here at Skyline College.

The Director of BAEC Leah McGlauchlin worked with the Burlingame Chambers of Commerce to set up a pipeline for International Students to gain some needed experience to make them competitive in the labor market.

As such, students received ongoing professional development, led by Community Engagement Liaison Ron Chand, on a monthly basis, focusing on the core tenets of career readiness: Professional Communication, Professionalism, and Networking. With these trainings, international students can take their newly acquired skills to the Burlingame Chambers of Commerce and make waves.

The students’ duties range from planning events and outreach to local businesses to office administration. Once the student’s internship is over, successful students will earn a certificate and letters of recommendation that attest to their success and growth as professionals ready for the workforce.
