On Thursday, October 17, 2025, the Associated Students of Skyline College (ASSC) and the International Student Program (ISP) collaborated to bring Skyline College students on a field trip to Spark Social SF, a food park in San Francisco’s Mission Bay. The event, which took place from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, provided students with the opportunity to embark on a “food crawl,” where they could try a variety of foods, build community, and enjoy an afternoon in the sun.

Students gathered excitedly at the roundabout outside Building 4 to board the bus for San Francisco. It was a quick 30-minute ride to Spark Social, where a double-decker bus space had been reserved to host our students. After quickly exploring the space, the students went to explore the colorful food trucks that lined the open plaza, as the scent of freshly made dishes greeted them.

From poke bowls and tacos to oven pizza and Korean street food, there was something for every palate. Some students took a family-style approach, gathering around tables, swapping bites, and recommending their favorite finds to one another. What began as a food crawl soon turned into a shared feast, as international and domestic students connected through the universal language of food.

Between the bites and laughter, the day reflected Skyline’s values of inclusion, curiosity, and community. Many students remarked how the event reminded them of home, while others appreciated discovering new flavors for the first time. The blend of cultures and cuisines perfectly captured the spirit of global connection that ISP and ASSC strive to foster.

By 4:00 PM, the group gathered for photos before heading back to campus, tired, full, and happy. The Spark Social trip served as a joyful reminder that when good food meets good company, friendships flourish and memories are made.

This collaboration between ASSC and ISP highlights how shared experiences, whether through sports, art, or in this case, food, bring Skyline’s diverse student community closer together.
