On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, the International Student Program (ISP), in collaboration with the Associated Students of Skyline College (ASSC), brought Skyline College students to Oracle Park to watch the San Francisco Giants take on the Philadelphia Phillies. This field trip was a fun getaway to relieve stress after the tiring midterms, giving the students a chance to experience one of the most iconic activities in the bustling city of San Francisco.

The field trip started off at the campus roundabout at 10:30 AM. Before heading to Oracle Park, students gathered and chatted, full of excitement and anticipation for the upcoming game against the Phillies. While some of the students were new to the sport, experienced fans enthusiastically shared their knowledge, quickly turning the newcomers into fans themselves.
The weather on this day was the ideal San Francisco baseball weather with clear blue skies and a light breeze to keep the crowd refreshed. Once the students arrived at the stadium, they strolled around the food stalls to find their perfect classic ballpark snacks: the famous garlic fries and hot dogs. The group then arrived at their seats just in time for the first pitch at 12:45 PM. This game against the Philadelphia Phillies showcased the Giants’ pitching; both sides remained scoreless until the 6th inning, keeping the crowd on edge. The highlight of the trip and the game was Rafael Devers’s massive three-run home run, which had the whole venue cheering and celebrating. The Giants wrapped up the afternoon with a 5-0 shutout, keeping the students gleefully cheering on their way back to campus.
More than a win for the game, it was a victory for the students to experience the large and friendly baseball community. Between innings, the students bonded by sharing their excitement and capturing their memories in photographs, further reinforcing the connection within the Skyline College community.
This collaboration between ASSC and ISP encouraged students to get to know each other whilst experiencing a classic San Francisco Giants community.
