NCORE Conference bannerIn collaboration with the Office of the VPI and the Division of Student Equity and Support Programs, the Center for Transformative Teaching & Learning (CTTL) is pleased to announce that Skyline College will be sending its 4th delegation of faculty, staff, and administrators to participate in the 2017 National Conference on Race and Ethnicity (NCORE) in Fort Worth, Texas, from May 29-June 3.  Information about the conference and program can be accessed via https://ncore.ou.edu/en/2017/

The Skyline College Conference NCORE Delegation will include up to 10 faculty and classified staff (5 from each group), as well as several administrators/managers.  Conference Delegates will be selected to represent Skyline College as a team engaged in professional activities intended not only to transform and inform their own personal and professional practices, but also to encourage transformative dialogue, and foster the implementation of equity-based practices.

Because we are anticipating a high level of interest in this opportunity, and because multiple deadlines are in play, we ask interested faculty and staff to submit an “Application for Conference Delegate Participation” by Monday, March 13, to skyprofessionaldevelopment@smccd.eduLate applications will not be accepted. Delegate applicants are required to review their application with their dean/immediate supervisor, who must then provide a brief statement of support and their signature on the application.  Faculty and staff selected to attend NCORE 2017 as Skyline College Conference Delegates will be expected to: 1) complete and submit the attached Application for Conference Delegate by March 13; 2) apply for Faculty or Classified Staff Professional Development Funding, if available; 3) facilitate a CTTL-sponsored on-campus workshop/activity related to the conference; 4) complete a Conference Delegate Report Form detailing conference highlights; and 5) submit all additional conference-related funding, approval, and reimbursement forms, as required by the College.

If you’d like to apply and/or have any questions, contact Nina Floro, Professional Development Coordinator, at ext. 4414 or at floro@smccd.edu.
