The Bay Area Center for International Trade Development (CITD) hosted by Skyline College promotes the growth of California businesses through education, training and business support. We also work with local businesses and develop industry-sanctioned courses in Global Trade and Logistics to provide our students and local workers with 21st century skills.
In Spring 2018, we will be launching two International Business Courses for people who have an interest in international trade as well as for those who are already working in the industry. These courses were designed with local businesses in Global Grade and Logistics that struggle to find entry level people with a basic knowledge of the industry. The courses are:
Global Trade & Logistics I (IBUS 100 – CRN: 45647)
January 16-May 24 | Tues. & Thurs. 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
This class covers concepts that are important to managers who are actively exporting or importing goods or are otherwise involved in international trade operations. All relevant issues are thoroughly explored, including documentation, terms of payment, terms of trade (Incoterms), exchange rate exposure, international insurance, customs clearance, agency and distributorship sales contracts, packaging, transportation, and security issues.
Customs Brokerage & Procedures I (IBUS 102 – CRN: 46140)
January 17- May 23 | Wed. 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
IBUS 102 is an introduction to international purchase-sale agreement negotiations, use of Incoterms, foreign exchange and collections, an introduction to international supply chains and cargo transportation, and cargo risk management. The course will include: foreign custom laws, industry standards, leases, consignments, marine air and casualty insurance, and methods of transportation.
Registration is open for students and workers.
