Ryan graduated from SFSU in 2014 with his B.A. in English Education. He went on to receive his TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) & TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Language) certificates that emphasize both classroom & academic planning. Ryan taught English overseas in Tahiti, French Polynesia and upon returning to the U.S., landed a position at The Learning Center here at Skyline. He was an English Instructional Aide then in 2016 was moved upstairs to the Library to work on technology support for our students. Outside of Skyline, he and his wife run their own business “Tanera’i i Ni’a”, which is a cultural association for Polynesian languages and design. He is trilingual in English, French & Khmer (Cambodian). Ryan is a huge advocate for Culturally Responsive Pedagogy as well as Immigrant & Refugee rights. Please feel free to stop by the Center for Student Life and Leadership Development, room 6212, and get to know him.
