Dr. Pearl Ly selected for IFLA 2016 National Committee Fellowship

Pearl-LyDr. Pearl Ly, Learning Commons Director, was selected for an International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) 2016 National Committee Fellowship. IFLA is the leading international body representing the interests of library and information services and their users. It is the global voice of the library and information profession. Dr. Ly will be representing Skyline College and California Community College libraries at the IFLA 2016 Congress that will be held in Columbus, Ohio from August 13-19, 2016. A full list of IFLA fellows from the United States and Canada are listed on the American Library Association website.

De-stress for Success at the Library

Next week is De-Stress for Success at the Library! Starting Monday, May 16, come enjoy de-stress oriented library books in the Library’s foyer display case, as well as drop-in coloring, games, crafts, and puzzles all week long. 46th Annual Commencement Ceremony

This year over 360 graduates will be participating in the Commencement Ceremony.  In order to ensure that all the participants are able to have guests at the ceremony the Commencement Planning Committee has decided to return to a ticket system.

Each graduate will receive two tickets when they purchase their regalia.

Additional details regarding tickets, special accommodations, regalia and commencement rehearsal are listed below.  Please feel free to distribute this information to faculty and staff.  Any inquiries regarding the Commencement Ceremony should be directed to the Center for Student Life and Leadership Development at skystudentlife@smccd.edu or call at (650) 738-4275. More information can be found on the commencement website.

 

Commencement Guests / Tickets

All participants will receive 2 tickets.

Tickets are required for ALL Guests over the age of 2 for entry into the GymnasiumChildren age 2 or under, without a ticket must remain in a lap during the ceremony.

Overflow seating with live video will be available in Building 4 for those guests who are not able to obtain tickets.

Participants can pick up their tickets when purchasing their cap & gown from the Skyline College Bookstore.

If extra tickets are available, there will be a lottery to determine their distribution.  Participants can sign up for the lottery when purchasing commencement items at the bookstore.

Lottery winners will be notified via email.  Lottery tickets will be distributed during Commencement rehearsal on Thursday, May 26 in the Gymnasium at 2:00 p.m.

 

Special Accommodations

Students who require accommodations for hearing, mobility or visual impairments or who need to make special arrangements for guests must contact the Center for Student Life and Leadership Development at skystudentlife@smccd.edu or call (650) 738-4275.

 

Purcha se Your Cap and Gown

Students may purchase a cap and gown and pick up their tickets at the Skyline College Bookstore from Wednesday, May 4 to Wednesday May 25.

 

Commencement Rehearsal

Commencement Rehearsal is from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26 in the gym, building 3. Students who are not able to attend the rehearsal must contact the Center for Student Life and Leadership Development at skystudentlife@smccd.edu or call at (650) 738-4275.

 

Celebrate: Graduate on Friday, May 27, 2016!

Doors to the gymnasium open for guests at 4:15 p.m. Graduates report to Building 4 to line up for the ceremony between 4:15 p.m. and 4:45 p.m.

The ceremony will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m.
